G-Series Ultra Precision Rogowski Coils TYPICAL MEASUREMENT APPLICATIONS
High Current Technologies, Inc. (HCT) now offers a new and improved Rogowski Coil for your most demanding current measurement applications. The new G-Series of coils have the lowest position sensitivity of any coil available today. The G-Series of coils are available in an opening style for easy installation. The split-style coil is available WITHOUT ADDITIONAL ERRORS relative to solid style of coils. This is a significant improvement over previous HCT coils and coils from other manufacturers. The G-Series coils have a wide frequency response range. This is an improvement over many other coils for measurement applications. This wide frequency response assures accurate phase and amplitude measurements for complex wave forms. No ferromagnetic materials are used for the cores for these coils. Because of this design, the coils have non-detectable non-linearity over a very wide range of current amplitudes. The wide amplitude linearity allows measurement of currents from 100 A to 20,000 A, for example. The range of currents that can be accurately measured for a given coil is typically limited by the electronics measuring the output of the coil and not the coil itself. The linearity quoted is based on extensive testing using National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) traceable standards. (Call for publications available through HCT discussing this testing, NIST traceability of HCT’s measurements, and other, uncertainty analysis of pulsed high current measurements and other related subjects.) The most remarkable feature of this series of coils is their immunity to the location of primary conductor that passes through the window of the coil. The output from coils from other manufacturers can vary by as much as 5%, especially for coils that open for installation. For similar test conditions the G-Series of coils have standard position sensitivities of ± 0.3% of reading. The G-Series of coils can be optionally fabricated to have position sensitivity of ± 0.1% of reading or less. These coils are electrostatically shielded and have been tested to voltages in excess of 20 kV with no detectable noise errors as measured using a 16-bit digitizing system. The G-Series coils are available in split (opening) styles or solid, rigid, and non-opening. HCT engineers will work with you to engineer the optimum coil design for you specific application to minimize position and temperature related errors and the optimum output voltage for you needs. Every G-Series coil is thoroughly tested using standards directly traceable to NIST. Each coil is tested for immunity to position of the primary conductor and to the effects of external currents. Tests are conducted for mutual inductance, and upon request, for temperature coefficients and phase errors. All testing is documented in Certificates of Calibration for each coil. The Certificates of Calibration meet the requirements of ISO 17025, ISO Guide 25, and ANSI Z-540. Special tests such as position sensitivity for unique conductor geometry can be provided at additional charge. |
